Commercial License Commissions - Don't get screwed
Hey guys,
I wanted to take a moment and talk about commissions again. I know, I talk about commission pricing a lot but I don't think I've ever really touched on commercial licensing in public.
I was recently contacted about doing a commission which would have required a commercial license. During my exchange with the potential client I quickly realized that they were used to dealing with artists who do not know or perhaps do not care about their own worth.
I think, on DA in particular we see this a lot unfortunately. Young or inexperienced artists simply don't know or understand how to properly value/price their commissions and then

Personal journal. For once. I used to do more of them in the past. It'll be a bit rambling!
30-day challenge!
I did two of them, one for the tiles and one for the blooms, for a total of 60 fractals. Some other people joined me in this adventure, like lucid-light (https://www.deviantart.com/lucid-light) and tatasz (https://www.deviantart.com/tatasz) :thanks: (you can check their artwork here!
You may ask why I started doing them in first place. Well, the reasons might be pretty disappointing, but here you go: I wanted to see if posting every day would make a difference in faves :ashamed: and, since I'm not a person who makes fractals daily, I wanted to see if I could do such a thing without compromising the quality
Hi, everyone,
When I write a journal, I'm never really sure of who is listening/seeing/reading them and it's just something that I do from time to time, when new discoveries capture my interest.
As some of you know, I've recently taken up the hobby of sculpture collecting and I'd commissioned a Rowan tree from a very talented lady who creates beautiful life from wires and beads.
Well, last week I asked Twystedroots (https://www.deviantart.com/twystedroots) if she would make me a special tree made from the colours of a rainbow. On her website there a some really beautiful sculptures made from the colours of a rainbow. I've been fascinated by their beauty from the moment that I saw

All Mediums Contest: Opposites
Gallery Descriptions and Miscats Month
Dear all,
Welcome again to our Gallery Descriptions and Miscats month, you're in for a wild ride. I'd like to announce the special all mediums contest we'll be hosting here:
Prompt:
Pick a piece of art you've created in the past, and create its complete opposite.
What does this mean?
This is an easy contest in the sense that "opposites" are open to interpretation but also there are so many potential "opposites" to something you have made, so you have endless options. Here are some examples:
If you painted a portrait of a feminine young woman, you could create an opposite that would be a portrait of

;) `lucid-light (https://www.deviantart.com/lucid-light) SO ANXIOUS! My first fractal tutorial and it's convoluted AF :faint: I also hope that I haven't missed anyone making similar tutorial already, that would be embarrassing.
Anyway, this tutorial is for Apophysis 7X and it will teach you how to make weird underwater or space fractals, depending on where you wanna take it. This is OPEN BETA, I tested the tutorial several times but I may have missed something so please do report any problems or typos, do ask questions! I'll try to be as helpful as possible.
Also, please show me what you made with this tutorial, I'm dying to

It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out
